Marygrove College Environmental Compliance Support

Scope of Work :

Environmental Testing & Consulting (ETC) provides ongoing environmental compliance, sampling, and monitoring services to support the renovation and redevelopment efforts at the historic Marygrove College campus in Detroit, Michigan. These services ensure all renovation activities meet federal, state, and HUD-related environmental health and safety requirements while maintaining safe conditions for students, staff, contractors, and future occupants.

ETC's Role :

ETC delivers comprehensive environmental oversight and technical support throughout the renovation process, including:

AHERA Asbestos Compliance

  • Conducted full AHERA-compliant asbestos inspections across campus buildings.
  • Coordinated and documented asbestos abatement during renovation phases.
  • Ensured proper handling, disposal, and regulatory compliance.

HUD Lead & Radon Compliance

  • Performed HUD Part 35–compliant lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments.
  • Conducted radon testing, mitigation oversight, and post-mitigation verification.
  • Provided guidance to ensure all hazards were identified and corrected before re-occupancy.

Operations & Maintenance Planning

  • Developed detailed O&M plans covering asbestos, lead paint, and radon.
  • Provided long-term management frameworks for campus facility teams, ensuring continued compliance and safe operations.

Clearance Testing & Project Closeout

  • Completed asbestos, lead, and radon clearance testing after remediation activities.
  • Issued documentation verifying compliance and authorizing safe re-occupancy of renovated facilities.
