Tetra Tech Philadelphia School Asbestos Laboratory Support
Scope of Work :
ETL has provided ongoing asbestos laboratory analysis for Tetra Tech since 2022 in support of the Philadelphia School System’s six-month surveillance and three-year asbestos reinspection program. The work supports one of the nation’s largest public school systems and requires consistent laboratory performance to keep scheduled inspections on track.
Laboratory services include Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) asbestos analysis for more than 5,000 samples each year. ETL maintains a typical 48-hour turnaround to meet the project’s scheduling requirements.
ETC's Role :
ETL serves as the laboratory analysis provider for the program, performing PLM asbestos analysis in accordance with Tetra Tech’s project-specific analytical requirements. Unlike many projects that utilize positive-stop protocols, this work requires analysis of all applicable sample layers to satisfy the client’s specifications.
In addition to laboratory analysis, ETL supports the project’s electronic workflow through Tetra Tech’s digital data bridge. Laboratory staff receive electronic chains of custody and return analytical results electronically, allowing project information to move efficiently between field teams and the laboratory.
When issues arise with electronic data transfers, ETL works directly with Tetra Tech and ETC’s internal database support team to quickly resolve upload or download problems. This coordination helps minimize disruptions and keeps laboratory reporting aligned with project schedules.

Since 2022, ETL has provided consistent, high-volume laboratory support for the Philadelphia School System asbestos surveillance and reinspection program. The laboratory processes more than 5,000 samples annually while maintaining a typical 48-hour turnaround.
