DLZ Corporation: High-Volume PLM Asbestos Laboratory Analysis
Scope of Work :
ETL has provided ongoing Polarized Light Microscopy (PLM) asbestos analysis for DLZ Corporation since 2019, supporting a variety of environmental and construction projects throughout metropolitan Detroit. The work includes routine laboratory analysis as well as periodic high-volume sample submissions tied to active field projects.
The laboratory processes more than 6,000 samples annually for DLZ, with a typical turnaround of five business days. Services are designed to support project schedules while maintaining consistent analytical quality across both routine and surge workloads.
ETC's Role :
ETL serves as DLZ’s laboratory analysis provider, performing PLM asbestos analysis and preparing reports that meet project requirements. The laboratory maintains established sample custody, quality assurance, and reporting procedures for every submission, regardless of project size.
Because project workloads can fluctuate, ETL regularly adjusts laboratory resources to accommodate large sample deliveries that arrive with little advance notice. This flexibility allows the laboratory to respond to changing project demands without disrupting analytical quality or established turnaround expectations.
Throughout the engagement, ETL has worked closely with DLZ to provide dependable communication, responsive scheduling, and consistent laboratory support across multiple ongoing projects.
Results and Impact :
Since 2019, ETL has consistently processed more than 6,000 DLZ samples each year while maintaining a typical five-business-day turnaround. The laboratory’s ability to scale with changing project demands has allowed DLZ to submit large sample volumes without sacrificing responsiveness or quality.
On one occasion, ETL accepted eight separate projects totaling approximately 450 samples in a single day. This demonstrated the laboratory’s capacity to absorb unexpected workload increases while maintaining established quality-control procedures and dependable reporting.
