Mill Street Site Redevelopment and Environmental Monitoring
Scope of Work :
ETC was contracted by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to perform environmental assessments for 18 buildings scheduled for demolition across multiple locations in Colorado. The project involved identifying regulated building materials and environmental hazards that needed to be addressed before demolition activities could begin.
The scope included asbestos surveys, lead-based paint inspections, and hazardous material inventories. The information gathered was used to support demolition planning, regulatory compliance, and proper handling of building materials during site preparation.
ETC's Role :
ETC conducted comprehensive asbestos inspections to identify and quantify asbestos-containing materials throughout the facilities. Detailed reports were prepared to support abatement planning and provide the information needed for safe demolition activities.
Lead-based paint evaluations were completed using XRF technology and laboratory analysis to identify painted surfaces containing lead. ETC also performed hazardous material inventories documenting materials such as PCBs, mercury-containing equipment, and other regulated substances that required special handling or disposal.
Throughout the project, ETC coordinated with project stakeholders and provided documentation designed to support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local requirements. The resulting reports gave project teams a clear understanding of environmental conditions before demolition work began.
Results and Impact :
The completed assessments provided the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with the information necessary to move forward with demolition planning across all 18 buildings. By identifying regulated materials before demolition, the project team was able to develop appropriate abatement and disposal strategies while reducing the potential for delays during construction activities.
ETC’s work helped establish a clear path from assessment through demolition preparation, ensuring environmental considerations were documented and addressed before work proceeded in the field.
