Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) Refresher Course

This RRP Refresher is a half-day course which provides updated lead-based paint information to contractors who perform renovations, repairs and painting activities in houses built before 1978 or child-occupied facilities, as required by Federal EPA regulations.

Course topics include changes in interpretation and enforcement, new data on health effects in children and adults, required lead-safe work practices when performing renovations, use of EPA-approved chemical test kits, proper lead-safe cleaning procedures, post-renovation cleaning verification, personal protective equipment, training of non-certified workers, and required compliance documentation.

The required course exam is provided, and successful completion will renew the attendee’s certification as a Certified Renovator for 5 years.

PLEASE NOTE:As per the Michigan Lead Abatement Act, contractors and their employees who engage in the control of lead hazards in target housing and child-occupied facilities must first become a licensed lead abatement worker or supervisor, and work for a licensed lead abatement contractor (company). Further, this same act requires that these certifications be renewed every 3 years (see under Refresher training). While the required applications are provided during the training course, the fees and required third party (State) licensing exam required for individuals are not included in the cost of the training course. Download link’s provided will expire within a few days, but if you miss the opportunity to download, they will be provided in class.
