Asbestos Awareness
This comprehensive course is tailored for in-house workers employed directly by building owners for custodial or maintenance duties. It equips participants with the skills to perform minor asbestos removal as part of routine maintenance operations.
Course Overview
Key Course Features:
- Focus on glove bag removal of small amounts of asbestos material (> 3 linear feet) for operational needs.
- Covers essential topics such as the historic uses of asbestos, health effects, asbestos glove bag removal, cleaning after asbestos projects, PPE, emergency response procedures, and waste disposal.
- Course includes a certification exam, and all asbestos certifications must be renewed annually.
Important Note:
In accordance with Michigan Public Act 135, this course is not available to outside contractors for the purpose of removing asbestos in buildings where they work or to bypass becoming a licensed asbestos supervisor or contractor.
