Initial Certification Course
The Asbestos Abatement Worker Initial Course is an EPA/State of Michigan accredited training required for individuals who wish to perform asbestos abatement activities within the State of Michigan. This comprehensive four-day (32-hour) course covers the fundamentals of asbestos abatement, ensuring attendees are well-prepared to handle asbestos safely and effectively.

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and respirator use

Certification Details:
- The course includes a State-approved exam for individual certification.
- Upon passing the exam, attendees are eligible to submit their certification and fees to the State of Michigan to become licensed asbestos abatement workers.
- Certification must be renewed annually.
Important Note:
As per Michigan Public Act 135, outside contractors and their employees who engage in the removal of asbestos from buildings must first become licensed asbestos abatement workers or supervisors and work for a licensed asbestos abatement contractor. These certifications must be renewed annually. While the required applications and exam are provided during the training course, fees for licensing are not included in the course cost.
